In your clinical practices, you likely work with clients who are caregivers, those hidden treasures who provide countless hours of care and assistance to people with disabilities and older adults, often without recognition or reward. They save the health care system millions of dollars but often neglect their own health and well-being while doing it. While the health care system focuses on the care recipient system it often offers little to support the caregiver. This class will explore what is needed to provide appropriate assessment, care, support, and training to your clients who are family caregivers. Caregiver Assessment tools and the skills needed by both caregivers, and clinicians providing them support, will be discussed. You will come away with a robust appreciation for caregivers and tools and knowledge to enhance the health and well-being of these unsung heroes.
